Requests to change a balance date

This SPS updates and replaces SPS 18/02: Requests to change a balance date. Paragraph 18 discusses Māori customers and businesses adopting a 30 June balance date to align with Maramataka Māori. Paragraphs 66 to 74 discuss the Commissioner’s ability to approve a change of balance date under the Financial Reporting Act 2013 and a customer’s transitional reporting period for the purpose of any financial reporting obligations subject to that Act.  The transitional period for financial reporting purposes may be different from the period the customer is required to file a transitional income tax return for.
